As part of efforts to create a safer city from various urban issues and crimes, Yangpyeong County established 14 smart poles, 6 smart crosswalks (covering 21 crosswalks), and a smart city integrated platform within Yangpyeong-eup.
The smart poles, which integrate CCTV, emergency bells, WIFI, and 55-inch displays, have eliminated surveillance blind spots in Yangpyeong-eup, thereby strengthening urban safety. The 55-inch displays are used to broadcast various events and county government promotions, and by measuring floating population, the county can now utilize data on population movement and density at key locations in Yangpyeong-eup to enhance public safety.
In addition, the installation of smart crosswalks equipped with remaining time indicators, LED floor signal lights, and voice guidance support has greatly improved the pedestrian environment. Real-time monitoring and analysis of traffic volume and pedestrian crossings at the busiest intersections in Yangpyeong-eup, such as Yanggeun Intersection, in front of Mulmalgeun Sports Center, and Gwanmun Samgeori, have laid the foundation for utilizing this data in traffic policy.
In particular, by establishing the "Smart City Integrated Platform" within the Yangpyeong County CCTV Control Center, various urban issues such as crime, disasters, and traffic can now be managed in an integrated manner, improving the efficiency of city operations. In the event of an incident, immediate detection enables a swift response, and real-time CCTV footage is shared with the police and fire departments, allowing for collaborative and smart responses among relevant agencies and creating a safer urban environment.
