Kumho Tire Launches "Green Campaigner" Climate and Environmental Education Program
In Partnership with Green Umbrella Children’s Foundation
"Education Based on Children’s Rights"
Kumho Tire is once again conducting the “Green Campaigner” climate and environmental education program in partnership with the Green Umbrella Children’s Foundation this year.
According to Kumho Tire on December 5, the “Green Campaigner” initiative is an education program based on children’s rights, designed to foster children’s growth as agents of climate change response. By organizing campaign contests and awards, the program aims to lead change in local communities and promote social values.
The program also focuses on increasing participation and practical action by having children directly plan and carry out campaigns related to various environmental issues, such as low carbon and biodiversity.
This year, from June to October, the program was run as a four-stage initiative for approximately five months, targeting 1,400 elementary school students across 66 classes in 18 schools in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province. The program included activities to enhance understanding of the climate crisis and campaigns to address it.
Elementary school teachers who participated in the climate and environmental education shared their impressions, saying, “It was impressive to see students learning about the climate crisis and connecting it to their daily lives through direct campaign activities,” and “Since it was the first time for students to create campaign slogans and chant picketing phrases, everyone participated enthusiastically and strengthened their commitment to environmental issues.”
Kang Jingu, Head of Management Support at Kumho Tire, stated, “Kumho Tire supports children in independently planning and executing campaigns so they can develop a correct awareness and attitude regarding the rights and responsibilities of climate citizenship,” adding, “We will continue to provide various educational programs to raise awareness of environmental issues and actively address them through education.”
