This lays the institutional and financial foundation for the development of Daemyeong Port and is expected to lead to a total national investment of approximately 80 billion won in the future.
Since the launch of the 8th administration, Daemyeong Port has been designated as a preliminary candidate for national fishing port status, positioning itself as a leading tourism and fisheries hub in northwestern Gyeonggi Province. The designation was achieved by reorganizing the Marine and River Division, operating a dedicated task force for revitalizing Daemyeong Port, and through the direct, persistent efforts of Mayor Kim Byungsoo, who participated in on-site evaluations. This achievement comes 24 years after Daemyeong Port was upgraded to a local fishing port in 2000.
Following its preliminary designation as a national fishing port in 2024, the city has conducted functional assessments of the port and collected feedback from local fishermen. In addition to supplementing the business feasibility data and actively explaining policies, Gimpo City has taken a systematic approach. With the inclusion of 900 million won in design costs in next year’s government budget, the project is expected to move forward in earnest.
Through this project, a total of 86.78 billion won will be invested in Daemyeong Port over five years, from 2027 to 2031. The city plans to reclaim adjacent public waters to secure port land and proceed with the construction of a new seafood wholesale market, a seafood distribution center, and a marine leisure complex center. In addition, by linking the project with the nearly completed Fishing Village New Deal 300 initiative, the city aims to significantly enhance both the functional and tourism value of the port.
