Professor Lee Haegu emphasized, "Universal design is not about consideration, but about a fundamental right guaranteed to everyone," adding, "As a multi-use facility, the metro must ensure both safety and convenience equally."
Since its establishment in 2023, the Busan Transportation Corporation Design Center has enhanced the consistency of public design and user convenience through a variety of activities, including the development of transfer guidance system designs, operation of a citizen participation design group, operation of a design review committee, and the production of corporation merchandise.
This year, the center has elevated the standard of metro design through interdepartmental collaboration, such as selecting the design rendering for new Line 2 trains, designing escalator two-line standing systems, and reviewing design guidelines for destination indicators.
Starting next year, the corporation plans to fully implement design innovation across all areas, including space, information, and assets (IP). The three main goals are: creating user experience-based welcoming spaces, establishing an intuitive information environment, and promoting emotion-driven branding based on design, all aimed at enhancing the quality of metro services.
