Muju County Selected for Smart Agricultural Products Distribution Center and Other Projects
Securing 8.5 Billion Won in Project Funding
"Reducing Distribution Costs for Farmers"
Muju County in North Jeolla Province has been selected for the "2026-2027 Smart Agricultural Products Distribution Center (APC) Support Project" and the "2026 Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province Horticultural Products Facility Improvement Project," both organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs. Through these selections, the county has secured a total project budget of 8.5 billion won, including national and provincial funding.
According to the county on December 1, the Agricultural Products Distribution Center (APC) Support Project is an initiative by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs to modernize local agricultural distribution. It aims to build advanced distribution facilities by automating and digitizing the entire process of storage, sorting, and packaging, thereby reducing labor and enhancing product quality.
The Horticultural Products Facility Improvement Project is designed to support the modernization of horticultural crop production facilities and equipment, with the goal of producing high-quality agricultural products and increasing farm income.
Based on these selections, the county will promote the expansion of the "Mupung Agricultural Products Distribution Center (APC)" in Mupung-myeon, the main apple-producing area. The project will include the construction of new sorting facilities, cold storage, and ICT-based system equipment, establishing smart automation facilities. This will enable quality standardization and labor reduction throughout the production and distribution process, and lay the foundation for stable production and distribution.
At the Muju Agricultural Products Distribution Center in Muju-eup, the county also plans to introduce smart equipment and supplement rapid freezing facilities for bokbunja (Korean black raspberries), expanding the center's capabilities. These upgrades will improve work efficiency and accuracy by automatically linking data from intake and shipment to sorting.
In particular, the expansion of rapid freezing facilities for bokbunja, whose production has recently increased significantly, is expected to enable stable production support by maintaining product quality.
