Ministry of Justice Forwards 'Arrest Notice for Cho Kyung-ho' to Special Prosecutor for Insurrection Case
Warrant Review to Proceed Once Special Prosecutor Submits to Court
A notice of arrest for Chu Kyung-ho, a member of the People Power Party who is suspected of obstructing the National Assembly’s resolution to lift martial law, has been sent to Special Prosecutor Cho Eun-seok, who is in charge of the rebellion case.
On November 27, at around 5 p.m., the Ministry of Justice received an official document (the resolution of consent to arrest) from the National Assembly Secretariat regarding the consent to arrest Assemblyman Chu, and forwarded it to the special prosecutor.
Once the special prosecutor’s team submits the arrest notice to the Seoul Central District Court, the court is expected to soon hold a pretrial interrogation (warrant review) for Assemblyman Chu. Unlike suspects who have already been arrested and whose hearings must be scheduled without delay, Chu remains a suspect who has not been detained, so the warrant review is expected to take place next week.

Assemblyman Chu is accused of interfering with the People Power Party lawmakers’ participation in the vote to lift martial law by repeatedly changing the location of the party caucus at the request of former President Yoon Suk-yeol’s side during the period of martial law. On this day, the National Assembly passed the motion to consent to his arrest with 172 votes in favor and 4 against out of 180 members present at the plenary session.
