On this day, Governor Kim met with Yoo Byungseo, Director of the Budget Office at the Ministry of Strategy and Finance, and other key officials to explain the necessity of Jeonnam’s pending projects. He requested that the foundation for Jeonnam’s future growth be fully reflected during the National Assembly’s budget increase stage.
This meeting, held at the final stage of the National Assembly’s budget increase process, was a strategic move by Governor Kim to directly meet with core officials at the Ministry of Strategy and Finance and ensure the inclusion of crucial projects vital to Jeonnam’s future. It is being regarded as a decisive turning point for opening the era of a 10 trillion won national budget.
Governor Kim emphasized, “Jeonnam is ready to become a central pillar for national balanced development and future strategic industries, and now is a golden opportunity that cannot be missed. Securing a 10 trillion won budget is not just a goal for Jeonnam, but a strategic investment for the nation.”
The major projects proposed on this day include: ▲ Phase 2 of the Honam High-Speed Railway (73.1 billion won) ▲ Four-lane expansion of National Road No. 15 from Goheung to Bongrae (13 billion won) ▲ Establishment of the National Seaweed Industry Promotion Institute (1 billion won) ▲ Creation of an AI-based Advanced Livestock Convergence Valley (500 million won) ▲ Development of a digital-based resource circulation pilot industrial complex (4 billion won) ▲ Construction of the Jeonnam 5·18 Memorial Hall and Community Center (500 million won), among others.
Governor Kim stated, “Jeonnam is a region equipped with platforms for national mid- to long-term industries such as marine, energy, and AI. We will not be satisfied with the government’s budget proposal alone, but will make Jeonnam’s vision for the future a reality through the National Assembly’s budget increase.”
