Orion Kkobuk Chip Enters South Africa and UAE Markets... Now Sold in 30 Countries
"A Bridgehead for the K-Snack Road"
Kkobuk Chip has entered the markets of South Africa and the United Arab Emirates. With this expansion, Orion has now established its presence on five continents-Africa, Asia, the Americas, Europe, and Oceania-broadening the reach of the K-Snack Road.
Orion announced on November 20 that, starting this month, it began selling three varieties of Kkobuk Chip-Corn Soup Flavor, Choco Churros Flavor, and Caramel Popcorn Flavor-at approximately 300 premium SPAR supermarkets in South Africa. SPAR operates large-scale supermarkets and hypermarkets in major cities such as Cape Town and Johannesburg.

Recognized by global retailers such as Costco in the United States and Carrefour in France, Kkobuk Chip is now seen as a leading K-snack brand. As a result, Orion is currently in discussions with two to three additional major local distributors in South Africa, in addition to SPAR, for potential entry into their stores.
South Africa is the largest economy on the African continent, accounting for about 15% of Africa's total GDP, and is considered a "young consumer market," with 61% of its population under the age of 34. The country is also well positioned for expansion into neighboring markets, making it a promising market for K-snack growth. With the global popularity of K-content, Korean food products have gained a reputation as "premium products," leading to a surge in demand among local consumers.
Alongside South Africa, Orion has also successfully exported Kkobuk Chip to several cities in the UAE, including Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Through the Dubai-based distributor Golden Star International LLC (GSL), Orion has begun entering non-halal markets tailored to local market characteristics, with plans to expand its distribution network to neighboring countries in the future.
Launched in 2017, Kkobuk Chip has expanded its global presence in regions such as Asia, the United States, and Australia. Starting with Costco locations in the United Kingdom, Sweden, and Iceland last year, and entering approximately 1,200 Carrefour stores across France in September of this year, Orion has continued to grow its European market. Today, Kkobuk Chip is sold in 30 countries across five continents, establishing itself as a representative K-snack product.
