View original imageThis meeting was organized to share the final results of this year's research project and to discuss policy directions for utilizing Gangwon Province's waterfront resources as regional tourist attractions that combine tourism, leisure, and culture. The report analyzed the characteristics and utilization conditions of waterfront spaces in Gangwon Province, categorizing the waterfront areas by type (valley/river type, lake type, and urban type) and presenting development models suited to each region.
The final report proposed practical policy alternatives, including institutional improvements and regulatory reforms necessary to vitalize waterfront tourism, as well as directions for promoting Gangwon-style waterfront anchor projects that reflect the unique characteristics of each region.
Yoon Gilro, chair of the Water Management Research Group, stated, "This research offers a new perspective by viewing waterfront spaces not simply as water-friendly facilities but as future tourism resources for Gangwon Province. I hope that the opinions discussed today will lead to policy and institutional improvements, providing real support for balanced regional development and tourism revitalization."
