SMG Yonsei Hospital has newly appointed Min-Kyu Kim as an orthopedic surgeon to strengthen its expertise in orthopedics, with clinical services set to begin on December 1, 2025.
Dr. Kim is recognized as an expert with extensive clinical experience and research capabilities in major joint diseases, including diabetic foot treatment, as well as shoulder, knee, and hip disorders.
After completing his orthopedic residency at Dongguk University Ilsan Hospital in Seoul, Dr. Kim served as Chief of Orthopedics at Yeosu Baek Hospital and as Director of Orthopedics at Samcheonpo Seoul Hospital, accumulating diverse clinical experience in the treatment of shoulder and foot diseases, joint injuries, and trauma. His main areas of practice include: ▲shoulder joint (shoulder) ▲diabetic foot necrosis ▲knee joint ▲hip joint ▲artificial joint ▲degenerative joint diseases ▲ankle and foot diseases ▲hand diseases ▲fractures and trauma.
He is also actively involved in relevant academic societies, such as the Korean Orthopaedic Association, Korean Fracture Society, Korean Shoulder and Elbow Society, Korean Society of Orthopaedic Ultrasound, and Korean Diabetic Foot Society, and consistently integrates the latest medical knowledge into his clinical practice. In 2017, he participated in the European Society for Surgery of the Shoulder and Elbow (SECEC) and the Bangkok Shoulder Cadaveric Workshop. He has also presented at the Korean Orthopaedic Association Autumn Conference and published numerous academic papers, including SCI-indexed articles, actively contributing to both domestic and international research activities.
With the recruitment of Dr. Min-Kyu Kim, SMG Yonsei Hospital plans to further enhance its competitiveness in treating severe orthopedic conditions, including diabetic foot. In particular, as the number of patients with diabetic foot necrosis and vascular diseases continues to rise, the hospital aims to become a leading center for diabetic foot treatment in the Changwon region, supported by a systematic treatment system and collaborative care network.
