Gwangju City has concluded the second year of its specialized complex for future car materials, parts, and equipment, confirming achievements in areas such as autonomous driving certification infrastructure, core technology development, and workforce training.
On November 17-18, Gwangju City and the Gwangju Future Car Mobility Promotion Institute held the "2025 Future Car Materials, Parts, and Equipment Specialized Complex Integrated Performance Report" at Sono Belle in Byeonsan, North Jeolla Province, where they reviewed cooperation with 20 organizations and companies.

View original imageThe main achievements included the sharing of the "Autonomous Driving Safety Performance Evaluation and Certification Support Center," which began construction in September. The center is scheduled for completion in December next year, and Gwangju City plans to introduce a total of 21 types of verification equipment by next year to be utilized as a foundation for testing, evaluation, and certification.
Each company's technology development was also presented. SOS Lab developed an edge-embedded module capable of perception even in severe weather conditions; DH Autoread developed a road reaction force simulation actuator and a redundant power supply system; and Enit developed the first prototype of a roadside unit (RSU).
The Gwangju Institute for University-Industry Convergence has been operating training programs for employees of autonomous vehicle parts companies and is expected to have trained about 200 people by the end of this year.
On the same day, the Korea Photonics Technology Institute hosted a seminar on intelligent communication and power technologies for autonomous driving, where the need for technology exchange and joint research was discussed.

Gwangju City was selected as a specialized complex for materials, parts, and equipment by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy in 2023, and is currently establishing a future car industrial belt of approximately 7.08 million square meters connecting Jingok Industrial Complex, Bitgreen National Industrial Complex, and the Future Car National Industrial Complex by 2028. In addition, from last year through 2028, the city is investing 65.7 billion won in technology development, certification infrastructure construction, and workforce training.
