How About a Game of Football?... Pukyong National University Students Bond with Youth Under Protection
"PKNU Guardian - Mansasonyeon FC Harmony Day" Held
Pukyong National University (President Bae Sanghoon) held the "Youth Hope Ladder PKNU Guardian Harmony Day" event on November 13 at the football field in SpoOne Park, Geumjeong-gu, Busan, together with youth under protection.
On this day, about 40 student volunteers from the PKNU Student Volunteer Corps played football matches and engaged in exchange activities with approximately 60 youths from Mansasonyeon FC.
The volunteer group participated as mentors (PKNU Guardians) for the youth under protection, communicating with them while playing football, sharing pre-prepared sports equipment and snacks, and building friendships. For those who could not participate in the match, the volunteers provided mentoring as older brothers and sisters, helping to improve social adaptation skills and provide psychological support.
Since 2021, Pukyong National University has been holding exchange events every fall between the student volunteer corps and Mansasonyeon FC to support the healthy growth of youth under protection through sports activities. Last year, the university invited these youths to the main athletic field on campus for a comprehensive sports festival.
In addition to this program, Pukyong National University has continued its support activities for local youth under protection, such as hosting the "Youth Hope Ladder PKNU Guardian Dream & Talent Development" program in July, which offered hands-on activities (cooking, woodworking, crafts, etc.) for youth from protected and vulnerable groups in the community.
