Sampyo Industry Hosts Industry-Academia Tour with Hanyang University Architecture Students and Faculty
Hands-On Tour Focused on Ready-Mixed Concrete Pouring and Practical Training
On November 18, Sampyo Industry announced that it had conducted an industry-academia tour with students and faculty from the Department of Architecture at Hanyang University at the Sampyo Industry Technology Research Center (S&I Center) in Hwaseong City.

The participants were divided into two groups and experienced firsthand Sampyo Industry's main production and research facilities, including the research center, the mortar plant, and the ready-mixed concrete plant.
Following last year's industry-academia tour for students from Seoul National University's Department of Architecture, Sampyo Industry once again prepared a practical industry-academia program this year for aspiring architects.
In particular, unlike last year’s theory-focused program, this year students brought their own concrete member molds (test specimens) and participated in hands-on ready-mixed concrete pouring exercises, taking part in the actual construction process of mixing, pouring, and finishing concrete. They also took the lead in raw material mixing and strength testing, with an emphasis on gaining practical, field-oriented experience.
Professional researchers at the Sampyo Industry research center introduced the performance testing of building materials, admixture development, and research directions for eco-friendly technologies, providing vivid insights into the research and development process of real industrial sites.
Park Yeeun and Choi Hyeyeon, graduate students from Hanyang University's Department of Architecture who participated in the tour, said, "It was fascinating to verify what we had learned in theory by observing the actual processes and testing them with explanations. What stood out most was the atmosphere at the site, where safety was the top priority."
Professor Ahn Gihyun of the Department of Architecture at Hanyang University commented, "It was a valuable opportunity for students to understand the flow of materials and technologies at actual work sites beyond the laboratory. Connecting with the industry was a great help in developing practical skills."
As part of its efforts to strengthen and expand its industry-academia cooperation system, Sampyo Group plans to make field-exchange factory tours a regular program, systematically improve processes, and continue to actively nurture future talent.

A representative from Sampyo Industry stated, "This program was designed to move beyond theory-based university education, allowing students to experience the actual industrial site and directly engage in the production and research processes of building materials. We plan to continue expanding industry-academia cooperation activities so that future talent in the architecture and materials fields can grow."
