Man in His 60s Dies After Falling Into Sea While Stacking Cement on Bulk Carrier Near Eulmi Island, Changwon

View original imageAt approximately 8:46 a.m. on November 17, a man in his 60s, identified as Mr. A, fell into the sea near Eulmi Island in Jinhae-gu, Changwon, Gyeongnam Province. He was rescued by a fishing vessel operating in the area but was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
According to the Changwon Maritime Police Station, the man, a resident of Busan, fell into the water at around 8:45 a.m. while transferring and stacking cement on a 300-ton class barge cement bulk carrier that was moored at the time. The cause of his fall remains unknown.
Upon receiving the report, the Changwon Maritime Police dispatched a patrol vessel, a coastal rescue boat, and a rescue team. Mr. A, who had been rescued by a nearby fishing vessel, was transported to the hospital.
Mr. A was wearing a life jacket but was unconscious when rescued. He ultimately passed away later that morning.
