On this day, Mayor Joo Gwangdeok, city officials, and about 30 citizens of Onam-eup participated in the inspection, walking together along the road expansion section, the entrance road to Lake Park, and the newly created barefoot path to review the outcomes of the projects.
The Onam urban thoroughfare was expanded to a total length of 1.6 kilometers and a width of 25 meters in the area of 203-20 Onam-ri, significantly reducing congestion in sections that previously experienced chronic traffic jams. The total project cost was 71.7 billion won, with construction starting in 2021 and completed in October 2025.
The progress report for the road checking sites was delivered at the construction site of the new school route in front of Onam Elementary School. Construction for this section began in October with the aim of ensuring a safe route for children to and from school, and the project is being expedited for completion by 2026.
Meanwhile, the entrance road to Onam Lake Park, which had caused significant inconvenience to citizens, was expanded up to the bottleneck section, improving accessibility to the park. The surrounding landscape was also renovated, allowing citizens to use the park more safely and comfortably.
Additionally, a 380-meter barefoot walking path and a foot-washing station were installed on the embankment of Onam Lake Park in September, providing citizens with a healing space where they can enjoy walking in nature and experience both health and relaxation in their daily lives.
