Yeungnam University Architecture Professor Sohee Kim Elected President of Korean Society of Color Studies: "Aiming to Create a Happier Society Through Color"
Yeungnam University (President Choi Oechul) announced on November 17 that Sohee Kim, Professor in the Department of Architecture, has been elected as the 20th President of the Korean Society of Color Studies (KSCS). She was appointed at the Seoul Design House on November 8, and her term will run for two years beginning January 1, 2026.
Founded in 1988, the Korean Society of Color Studies is a leading academic organization in Korea specializing in color research and its industrial applications. With Professor Sohee Kim of Yeungnam University assuming the role of the 20th president, the society is expected to embark on a new phase of growth.
The newly appointed president, Sohee Kim, is a renowned authority in the fields of architectural color and urban environment. She has led a number of architectural color projects, including Daegu Lions Park, Jamsil Middle School, and POSCO Apartments, establishing herself as a leader in the field. She plans to focus on systematizing academic research, expanding collaboration with industry, and strengthening international academic exchanges.
Professor Sohee Kim, who will lead the Korean Society of Color Studies for the next two years, stated, "Color is an important language that connects culture and industry. Through color, human emotions and social values can be harmonized." She added, "By popularizing the field of color studies, I hope to make color a natural part of our daily lives and help create a society where everyone can find happiness through color."

The Korean Society of Color Studies has steadily expanded its academic foundation and social role thanks to the efforts of previous presidents, including Kwon Younggul, former Chair of the National Architectural Policy Committee; Park Donseo, former President of Ajou University; Lee Jinsook, former President of Chungnam National University; and Lee Kyungdon, former CEO of the Seoul Design Foundation. Now, Professor Sohee Kim will carry on this legacy as the 20th president.
