Strengthening Wildfire Response with Real-Time CCTV Access
Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province (Governor Kim Jin-tae) has become the first in the nation to establish a system that allows the Korea Forest Service's wildfire situation control system to directly access the province’s CCTV footage during the autumn wildfire prevention period. This feature was implemented on November 7 and has been in full operation since November 10.

View original imageThis system integration project was jointly promoted by Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province and the Korea Forest Service. It links the “Smart Gangwon Integrated Platform,” which manages approximately 28,000 CCTVs owned by 18 cities and counties in the province as well as related agencies, with the wildfire situation control system.
Through this integration, real-time data provided by the wildfire situation control system-such as wildfire reports, on-site conditions, and information on the spread-can now be used to immediately access CCTV footage from areas near the reported location.
As a result, the efficiency of wildfire response across the board is expected to improve, including faster initial situation assessment, quicker deployment of firefighting personnel and equipment, and greater accuracy in making resident evacuation decisions.
