Former Lina Life and Chubb Life CEO Youngho Lee Joins M&A Advisory Firm Aimbridge Partners
"Aimbridge to Oversee Insurance M&A and Insurtech Investments"
Aimbridge Partners, a mergers and acquisitions (M&A) advisory and private equity firm, announced on the 17th that it has appointed Youngho Lee, former CEO of Lina Life Insurance and Chubb Life Insurance, as its new CEO.
Lee is expected to oversee digital insurance M&A, insurtech (insurance + technology) investments, insurance sales channel investments, and digital platform strategies.
Lee, a certified actuary, holds a Ph.D. in Insurance Management from Hanyang University. For over 30 years, he has served as CEO of foreign insurance companies, leading digital transformation, product strategy, direct insurance, and organizational innovation in the domestic and international insurance sectors.
During his tenure as CEO of Lina Life Insurance, he established a direct and telemarketing (TM)-based insurance model in the Korean market and systematically grew a protection-focused business structure.
At that time, Lina Life Insurance became the first to introduce non-face-to-face channels. Lee's strategy played a decisive role in expanding non-face-to-face and digital-based insurance models.
From 2014 to 2020, Lee served as CEO of Chubb Life Insurance, where he was responsible for the overall strategy for the Korean market.
He successfully led portfolio restructuring, strengthened corporate general agency (GA) and partnership channels, advanced consumer-centric operations, and drove digital-based retail innovation.
From 2020 to 2023, he served as an outside director at Shinhan Life. He contributed to strengthening internal controls, risk management, and consumer protection systems, enhancing Shinhan Life's mid- to long-term management stability and supervisory functions.
Subsequently, as CEO of a digital marketplace, he pursued a platform strategy that combined insurance, finance, and commerce. He contributed to building a digital insurance ecosystem, including AI-based product recommendations, underwriting, and operational automation.
Lee stated, "The insurance industry is in the midst of structural change, yet digitalization is progressing slowly. With the same mindset as when I introduced TM insurance to Korea over 20 years ago, I will work with Aimbridge to contribute to the acquisition and development of digital-based insurers and sales channels, and to the advancement of the industry."
Meanwhile, Aimbridge is strengthening its data-driven investments and M&A advisory in the finance and digital sectors, led by CEO Seo Jaewook, formerly of Prudential, AIA, and ING, and partner Go Eunhee, who holds a Ph.D. in financial regulatory law and is a licensed attorney. The firm is pursuing strategic investment expansion in digital insurers, insurtech, AI, and insurance sales channels.
