Leading the Way in Improving Social Awareness
by Supporting the Creative Activities of Artists with Developmental Disabilities
Hana Financial Group announced on November 17 that it will hold the 5th Hana Artverse Art Contest for artists with developmental disabilities.
Hana Artverse is a flagship social contribution initiative by Hana Financial Group that has been ongoing since 2022 to improve awareness of disabilities and promote an inclusive culture. The program supports the artistic activities of artists with developmental disabilities, provides internship opportunities, and serves as a new platform for social participation.
The 5th Hana Artverse, which is being held this time, will accept online applications through the official Hana Financial Group website until February 8 next year. The contest is divided into an adult category for those aged 18 and above and a children and youth category. Any artist with a developmental disability can participate, allowing artists of various ages to freely express their individuality and emotions.
The judging will be conducted fairly by experts and professionals from the art community. A total of 30 works will be selected, including 20 from the adult category (2 Grand Prizes, 2 Excellence Prizes, 4 Merit Prizes, and 12 Honorable Mentions) and 10 from the children and youth category. Winners will receive a total of 10 million won in prize money, and three selected winners will be given internship opportunities at social enterprises.
The awards ceremony for the 5th Hana Artverse is scheduled to be held on April 20 next year to commemorate Disabled Persons Day. The winning works will be exhibited offline at Hana Bank’s Euljiro headquarters and H.art1 (Heart One), Hana Financial Group’s integrated cultural space and open storage facility. An online VR exhibition will also be available, allowing people nationwide to appreciate the works of artists with developmental disabilities.
In addition, the exhibition aims not only to expand sales channels for artists with developmental disabilities but also to promote their work through activities such as producing merchandise, thereby enhancing the sustainability of participants’ artistic endeavors.
A representative from Hana Financial Group stated, “Hana Financial Group continues to support artists with developmental disabilities so they can demonstrate their abilities as healthy members of society and achieve economic and social independence. Through the creation of social value via art and the practice of inclusive finance, we will strive to build a sustainable society where everyone is respected.”
Meanwhile, Hana Financial Group is also engaged in a variety of social contribution activities to improve disability awareness and promote an inclusive culture, such as providing learning aids for children and youth with disabilities, offering parent-accompanied internships for people with developmental and borderline intellectual disabilities, running the ‘Autism Race’ campaign to raise awareness of autism, and providing sign language education for employees to improve awareness of hearing disabilities.
