Design Korea 2025
Showcasing the Achievements of Next-Generation Design Talent

The Korea Institute of Design Promotion announced on the 13th that it had opened an exhibition showcasing the achievements of the Korea Design Membership Plus (KDM+) at Design Korea 2025, which began on the 12th.

The KDM+ program selects promising design students from six major regions nationwide-Seoul-Gyeonggi, Gangwon, Gwangju, Daegu-Gyeongbuk, Daejeon, and Busan-and nurtures them into globally competitive, practice-oriented talent who can be immediately deployed in the industry. Over two years, participating students receive support including access to creative design spaces, specialized training in various fields, professional mentoring, domestic and international corporate projects, and participation in international awards. This year, a total of 158 students from across the country are participating.

This exhibition shared the results of field-oriented design education and global industry-academia collaboration projects conducted through the membership program, and introduced the creative works of KDM+ students who have won awards at domestic and international competitions.

First, the exhibition featured the design outcomes of four teams from the SHARE X workshop, which was operated in collaboration with domestic design firms Plus X and BKID on the theme of artificial intelligence (AI).

In the industry-academia project section, the results of the "Last-Mile Autonomous Mobility Design for Transportation-Vulnerable Groups" project, developed in partnership with Model Solution this year, were unveiled for the first time. In addition, the "Next-Generation Future Mobility Concept Tire Design" project, a collaboration with Nexen Tire that was recently selected as a finalist for the IDEA Design Award in the United States, was also showcased. The "Matryoshka Wrench" by KDM+ student Kang Woojun, which won the main award at the 2025 Red Dot Design Award, was also on display.

Public projects aimed at solving social issues were also introduced. The "Non-Discriminatory Perspective" project, conducted with Gwangju Transportation Corporation, is an inclusive space design that enables everyone to use subway stations without discrimination. This design idea is scheduled to be installed at Gwangju Songjeong Subway Station within this year.

Yoon Sangheum, President of the Korea Institute of Design Promotion, stated, "KDM+ is more than just an educational program; it serves as a stepping stone for students to grow into world-class designers," adding, "We will continue to discover and support young designers who will lead the future of the domestic and global design industry."
