Gyeonggi Province Equips Library with Reading Magnifiers and Adjustable Desks
An Open Space for Reading and Relaxation for All, Regardless of Disability
Reopening as an Inclusive Cultural Space Without Barriers
On November 13, it was announced that the Gyeonggi Peace Plaza Library, located in the Northern Gyeonggi Provincial Government Complex, has been newly renovated as an inclusive space where anyone, regardless of disability, can freely read books and relax.
Until now, the Gyeonggi Peace Plaza Library has steadily established itself as a multi-purpose cultural space where visitors can enjoy reading, conversation, and cultural and artistic performances. With this renovation, a variety of assistive devices such as reading magnifiers, height-adjustable desks, and Galaxy Tabs have been newly installed to ensure that users with visual or physical limitations can use the library comfortably.
In addition, an accessibility module for the visually impaired has been introduced to the unmanned borrowing and return system, allowing users to more conveniently borrow and return books through voice guidance and a braille keypad.
The Gyeonggi Peace Plaza Library aims to be an open cultural space where anyone, regardless of age, gender, or disability, can visit, read, and communicate. Through this environmental improvement, the province expects to broaden residents' opportunities to enjoy culture and to create a reading environment that everyone can use equally.
Won Jinhee, Administrative Management Officer of Gyeonggi Province, said, "We hope that the Gyeonggi Peace Plaza Library will become a space open to everyone for reading and relaxation," adding, "We will continue to develop it into a warmer and more considerate cultural space where all residents can come together and interact."
