Gangseo District in Seoul to Hold "Children's Rights Week" for Seven Days
Child Abuse Prevention Campaigns and Musical Events Planned
Gangseo District in Seoul (District Mayor Jin Kyohun) has designated November 15 to 21 as "Children's Rights Week 2025" and will hold a variety of events to raise awareness about protecting children's rights within the local community.
Children's Rights Week is held in recognition of World Day for the Prevention of Child Abuse (November 19) and the anniversary of the ratification of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (November 20). This year's slogan, "ALL 4(FOR) YOU," embodies the values of the four fundamental rights of children: the right to survival, protection, development, and participation.
The main events include a commemorative ceremony, a child abuse prevention campaign, a sports day, and an appointment ceremony for citizen instructors on children's rights. The commemorative ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. on November 15 at Ujang Hall in the Gangseo Community Center. The event will feature a performance by the Gangseo Children's Choir, as well as the musical "We Are All Precious!" which uses animal mascot costumes to convey the meaning of children's rights in a friendly and accessible way.
At the event venue, a child abuse prevention campaign will also be conducted in cooperation with Gangseo Police Station and the Seoul Southwest Child Protection Agency. Practical prevention activities will include guidance on proper parenting methods, instructions on how to report abuse, and the distribution of related promotional materials.
On the same day at 10 a.m., a "Growing Together Sports Day" will be held in the indoor gymnasium of Deungchon Middle School, with over 230 children and their families from local children's centers participating. Attendees will build camaraderie through activities such as cooperative ball rolling, basket stacking, and group relays.
During this period, Gangseo District plans to continuously promote the "129 Principles of Positive Parenting" and child abuse prevention messages through social networking services (SNS), the district's official website, and the district newsletter "Kkachi News." The "129 Principles of Positive Parenting" is a parenting method that respects children as independent individuals and is based on communication and trust between parents and children.
