Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province (Governor Kim Jin-tae) has launched an all-out effort to defend the already secured 10 trillion won in national funding for next year’s government budget and to increase national funding for major projects that have not yet been included, as the National Assembly’s review of the government budget bill is now in full swing.
On the 12th, the budget and working-level officials of Gangwon Province visited the offices of Assemblymen Han Kiho and Song Kiheon, members of the Gangwon regional budget and accounts committee, to explain the necessity and justification of major national projects related to SOC and future industries that were not reflected, and actively requested the expansion of national funding support. The main projects proposed include: ▲ (SOC) 1 billion won for the Pocheon-Cheorwon Expressway; ▲ (Future Industries) 1.7 billion won for establishing a semiconductor K-materials and parts production hub; 2.8 billion won for the digital medical data industry utilization promotion project; 2.33 billion won for building an antigen-antibody material bank to foster small and medium-sized CDMOs; 2.5 billion won for establishing a support base for eco-friendly future vehicle parts industries applying complete precision decomposition; and 8 billion won for creating a demonstration hub for the Gangwon Medical AX Industry.
The major funding increase projects requested by Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province are key initiatives for realizing the core vision of “Gangwon as a Global City of Future Industries” and for the early implementation of the “Metropolitan Era of Gangwon.” The province plans to mobilize all administrative resources to respond to the National Assembly’s review.

Meanwhile, the government budget bill is currently undergoing a step-by-step review by the National Assembly’s standing committees and the Special Committee on Budget and Accounts, and is scheduled to be finalized through a plenary session vote on December 2.
