Dongducheon City Appoints Soonjong Yang, Executive Vice Chairman of Volunteer Center, as Honorary Mayor for a Day
On November 7, Dongducheon City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Hyungdeok Park) appointed Soonjong Yang, Executive Vice Chairman of the Dongducheon Volunteer Center, as Honorary Mayor for one day.

View original imageSoonjong Yang was appointed as Honorary Mayor in recognition of his active involvement in key local organizations such as the Volunteer Center, the Korean War Veterans Association, the Veterans Association, the Volunteer Fire Brigade, and the Korean Senior Citizens Association, as well as his contributions to community development and support for vulnerable groups.
After receiving his letter of appointment from Mayor Hyungdeok Park on the morning of November 7, Honorary Mayor Yang stated, "It is an honor to be appointed as Honorary Mayor for November," and added, "I will continue to do my best to make Dongducheon a warmer and more livable city."
On this day, Honorary Mayor Yang visited major departments and facilities, including the Welfare Policy Division, the Safety Management Division, the Freedom Protection Peace Museum, the Media Center, and the Bandabi Sports Center. He received briefings on their work and shared key municipal issues. He also toured the Natural Recreation Forest and Nolja Forest, discussing current operations and ways to encourage greater usage, fulfilling his duties as Honorary Mayor.
In particular, he donated 1 million won to support neighbors in need within the city, adding meaning to the season of sharing at the end of the year.
