A Variety of Events Featuring Hangeul Makgeolli and Confucian Scholar Experiences
A special event will be held where visitors can enjoy "Hangeul Makgeolli," which captures the beauty of Sejong, the city of Hangeul culture, amidst stunning natural scenery.
According to Sejong City, the event titled "Hangeul Makgeolli, A Cup of Elegance" will take place on November 15 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. around the Geumbyeokjeong Pavilion in Janggun-myeon.
City officials explained that the event aims to raise awareness of Sejong as a city of Hangeul culture by promoting Hangeul Makgeolli, a Hangeul-themed product, and to revitalize the Geumbyeokjeong cultural space, which boasts both historical significance and exceptional scenery.
At the event, visitors will be able to taste Boksoondoga's Hangeul Makgeolli, which embodies the charm of Hangeul, against the backdrop of the scenic Geumbyeokjeong Pavilion. There will also be programs for all ages, including Hangeul writing lessons with a traditional scholar, experiences as a Confucian student, traditional games such as jegichagi and janggi, and a Geumam-ri village food market selling dishes like tofu with kimchi.
Those wishing to participate can apply by scanning the QR code in the promotional materials posted in the city’s online notices by November 13. Pre-registration is limited to the first 200 applicants, but citizens who visit the venue will also be able to join the event.
Choi Minho, Mayor of Sejong, said, "I hope this day becomes a memorable occasion for families to enjoy the refined elegance once cherished by Joseon-era scholars, all while taking in the beautiful autumn scenery."
