"Run Together with Singer Sean"... Sokcho City to Host 'Welfare RUN' for Sharing and Participation
2025 Social Welfare Festival: Practicing Sharing Through Running
Pre-registration Available for Up to 1,000 Participants
Anticipating Real Growth of a Culture of Giving
Sokcho City in Gangwon Province will host the "2025 Sokcho City Social Welfare Festival - Welfare RUN" event at the Yeongnangho Lawn Plaza on November 15.
This event goes beyond simply promoting social welfare; it is a new type of social welfare festival in which citizens directly participate and practice giving, aiming to spread a culture of sharing throughout the local community.
This year’s festival has been designed as a citizen-centered, participatory sharing event, moving away from repetitive formats of the past.
The "Welfare RUN," under the slogan "Participation Together, Giving Together," will donate the entire participation fee (10,000 won per person) to the Sokcho City Hope Sharing Movement Fund, with the goal of helping to address welfare blind spots.
Notably, singer Sean, who is well known for his philanthropic activities, will join as a special guest.
Inspired by Sean’s signature charity marathon, the "8·15 Marathon" (an 81.5-kilometer run), the event will feature him on stage at the opening ceremony, running alongside citizens to share the meaning of giving and to convey the warm spirit of Sokcho as a welfare city.
The event will kick off with a pre-ceremony performance at 1:00 p.m., followed by the opening ceremony and Sean’s greeting at 2:00 p.m., after which the main running event will begin.
The running course, set around the Yeongnangho area, will see 1,000 citizens running together. Throughout the venue, there will be more than 20 welfare experience booths, exhibitions of products from welfare facilities, a welfare bazaar, performances, and more, creating a festival space where everyone can enjoy and participate.
The event is organized by the Sokcho City Community Social Security Council, and participants can pre-register on a first-come, first-served basis for up to 1,000 people via QR code. For inquiries, please contact the Sokcho City Community Social Security Council.
