Prosecutors Request Arrest Warrant for Salt Farm Owner Who Withheld Wages from Disabled Worker
The prosecution has initiated detention procedures against a salt farm owner (59) for the illegal employment and forced labor of an individual with an intellectual disability.
The Criminal Division 2 of the Mokpo Branch of the Gwangju District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Hwang Youngseop) requested an arrest warrant for Mr. A (59) on November 5, on charges of quasi-fraud, violation of the Welfare of Disabled Persons Act, and violation of the Act on the Prohibition of Discrimination against Persons with Disabilities and Relief of Their Rights.
Mr. A is accused of failing to pay 96 million won in wages to Mr. B (65), an individual with an intellectual disability, who worked at his salt farm in Sinan, South Jeolla Province, for approximately 10 years from April 2014 to August last year.
