Dongducheon City Signs Agreement with Public Solidarity Labor Union, Paving the Way for Restoring Trust
Dongducheon City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Park Hyungdeok) announced on November 3 that it has signed an agreement (hereinafter referred to as the "agreement") with the Public Solidarity Labor Union through mutual cooperation and compromise, following the recent tragic death of a sanitation worker. This agreement is the result of Dongducheon City's firm commitment to substantially improve the working environment for sanitation workers, who are responsible for maintaining a pleasant environment for citizens, and to achieve sustainable municipal development.
The city thoroughly reviewed the union's demands and, after comprehensively considering its financial situation and the efficiency of personnel management, made a decision from a broad and long-term perspective.
A city official stated, "Based on the fundamental principle of maintaining optimal environmental services for citizens, we have made bold and forward-looking decisions to create an efficient working environment," adding, "We will continue to do our utmost to ensure a safe and efficient working environment and to pursue citizen-centered and transparent administration."
