'Forests for Pedestrians with Limited Mobility' to Be Created at Four Sites Including Taehwasan in Gwangju
Gyeonggi Province will create forests for pedestrians with limited mobility at four locations, including the Pyeongtaek Senior Club.
On October 30, Gyeonggi Province announced that four sites have been selected for the "2026 Green Fund Public Project" organized by the Korea Forest Welfare Institute: ▲Pyeongtaek Senior Club in Sosa-dong, Pyeongtaek City (Sharing Forest) ▲Good Comprehensive Nursing Center in Wolgot-dong, Siheung City (Sharing Forest) ▲Taehwasan in Gwangju City (Barrier-Free Sharing Trail) ▲Oncheon Park in Icheon City (Barrier-Free Urban Forest). Forests will be established at these locations to support socially disadvantaged groups and pedestrians with limited mobility.
The Sharing Forest at welfare facilities is a project that creates forests and rest areas for socially disadvantaged groups who use social welfare or medical institutions, providing emotional stability. The Barrier-Free Sharing Trail and Barrier-Free Urban Forest projects improve forest paths so that pedestrians with limited mobility, such as people with disabilities and the elderly, can use the forests conveniently and safely.
The Green Fund Support Project is an initiative to expand green infrastructure by creating green spaces near living areas using lottery funds, in order to provide forest welfare services to socially and economically marginalized or disadvantaged groups. The total fund allocated to the four selected sites for this public project is 1.1 billion won.
