An exhibition showcasing the latest technologies and market trends in the domestic and international photonics convergence industry will be held in Gwangju.

On October 28, Gwangju City announced that the 23rd International Photonics Convergence Industry Exhibition (Photonics Korea 2025) will take place over two days, from October 30 to 31, at the Kimdaejung Convention Center. The event is co-hosted by Gwangju City and the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, and organized by the Korea Photonics Convergence Industry Association.

This year, more than 70 companies and organizations from Korea and abroad will participate, offering a comprehensive look at the present and future of photonics convergence technologies that will lead the Fourth Industrial Revolution era. The photonics convergence industry serves as a core technology foundation for future high-tech sectors such as artificial intelligence, autonomous driving, telecommunications, and semiconductors, and is expected to strengthen the competitiveness of local industries and expand exports for companies.

The exhibition will feature an export consultation meeting inviting overseas buyers, an academic conference on photonics convergence technology, and a photonics convergence industry forum. In particular, the on-site export consultation meeting, which will be attended by more than 80 overseas buyers from eight countries, is expected to result in the signing of numerous export contracts and other achievements.

Additionally, at "Tech Day," hosted by the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI), participants will share insights on the technological development direction and industry trends in the photonics convergence sector. At the "Photonics Convergence Industry Forum," experts from companies, research institutes, and academia will discuss ways to vitalize the industrial ecosystem and promote international cooperation.

The city plans to use this event to strengthen the technological capabilities and global networks of local photonics convergence companies, aiming to establish itself as a world-leading city in the photonics convergence industry.

Choi Taejo, Director of the Artificial Intelligence Industry Bureau, stated, "This exhibition will serve as a meaningful venue where the domestic and international industrial and research communities can come together and present a future vision for the photonics convergence industry."
