AI Film Created by Jungnang Residents Invited to International Film Festivals
Supporting Resident Creativity Through AI Film Production Program
A film created by residents of Jungnang-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Ryu Gyeonggi) through an artificial intelligence (AI) film education program initiated by the district has been invited to domestic and international film festivals, achieving notable results.
Jungnang-gu announced that the Jungnang Yangwon Media Center supported resident creativity through the ‘AI Film Production Workshop’ held from May to July for local residents. The program included basic film directing education and hands-on sessions utilizing the latest generative AI technologies such as Midjourney and Kling AI, resulting in participants completing a total of nine short AI films.
Among them, Director Seok Junghwi’s “Door to Tomorrow” and Director Lee Hyemi’s “Run Hammy Run” received attention at both domestic and international film festivals. “Door to Tomorrow” was nominated for Best AI Work and Best Director at the 20th Marbella International Film Festival in Spain, and was officially invited to a total of six film festivals, including the 2025 Larissa Lumina AI Short Film Festival in Greece and the 5th Geumcheon Fashion Film Festival. “Run Hammy Run” won the Grand Prize at the 3rd Jukseo Short AI Film Festival, earning recognition for its artistic quality and completeness.
AI-based film production is drawing attention for its ability to realize original content with a small budget and short production period. It is being evaluated as a new trend in cultural creation, as anyone can take on creative challenges without specialized equipment or personnel.
