Northern Gyeonggi Launches 'AI Textile Autonomous Manufacturing Innovation' with MOU Signed by Six Organizations

On October 24, Yangju City in Gyeonggi Province successfully hosted a signing ceremony for a memorandum of understanding (MOU) among six organizations, as well as the "AI Textile Industry Autonomous Manufacturing Seminar" at the Gyeonggi Textile Comprehensive Support Center. View original imageThe agreement brought together Yangju City, Pocheon City, the Korea Textile Materials Research Institute, Naver Cloud Corp., the Gyeonggi Textile Industry Association, and the Korea Autonomous Manufacturing Platform Association. The goal is to establish a collaborative framework for building AI infrastructure for textile companies in northern Gyeonggi and to identify practical models for on-site application.
Kang Suhyeon, Mayor of Yangju City, stated, "Textiles are one of Yangju's key industries. Through today's signing ceremony and seminar, we will strive to provide administrative support and cooperation so that AI and autonomous manufacturing can spread throughout the entire industry."
Jung Myeonghyo, Chairman of the Korea Textile Materials Research Institute, emphasized, "The textile industry now stands at the forefront of a transition toward AI- and data-driven autonomous manufacturing. Today's agreement will serve as a starting point for opening the future of the textile industry using AI, based on companies' on-site experience."
More than 60 business representatives from northern Gyeonggi attended the subsequent "AI Textile Industry Autonomous Manufacturing Seminar," demonstrating strong interest in the adoption of AI.
In the first presentation, Cho Hyuncheol, Vice President of the Korea Autonomous Manufacturing Platform Association, introduced AI applications for dyeing processes based on digital transformation cases in the paper industry. He presented achievements such as reducing order processing time by 90% and lead time by 40% through digital operations and automated production planning connecting orders and deliveries. He also explained digitalization of color mixing and recipes, quality prediction, and integration with MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems).
In the second presentation, Na Changhyeon, Manager at Naver Cloud, introduced a customized solution matching program for manufacturers. He presented a fast and low-burden adoption path through connections with verified solution providers, support for cloud migration, and on-site accompaniment. He also announced plans to promote the spread of manufacturing AX in collaboration with local companies, research institutes, and local governments.
