He has accumulated extensive coaching experience at clubs such as Liverpool, Brighton & Hove Albion, as well as with the national teams of Ghana and Greece.
Born in 1985 and now 40 years old, he is a young Spanish coach who holds a UEFA Pro License. He is recognized as a 'next-generation European-style coach' who has progressed step by step from youth to professional football.
Until recently, he worked as the chief assistant coach under Poyet for the Greece national team, helping the team achieve promotion in the UEFA Nations League. He then contributed to introducing a European-style development system as the youth director at Al-Gharafa in Qatar.
With this appointment, Paju Citizen Football Club will become the only team in K League 2 led by a foreign head coach. Coach Nus will form a 'Spanish unit' by bringing in a Spanish assistant coach and a physical coach to join him in Paju. This is a strategic move to establish a head coach-centered cooperative system and to ensure stable team management after entering the professional league.
Kim Kyung-il, Mayor of Paju (and club owner), stated, "Head coach Gerard Nus is a next-generation leader who has gained experience on various stages around the world, and he perfectly aligns with the philosophy of youth, speed, and energy that Paju Citizen Football Club pursues. Through this appointment, I hope Paju will emerge as a new center of Korean football."
General Manager Hwang Bokwan commented, "Coach Nus is the person who best embodies the philosophy of 'a young club, young energy, and a young squad' that our club emphasizes. He is a leader with fast, organic tactics and strong team energy."
