Hanwha General Insurance and Yonsei University International Campus Create Ecological Cherry Blossom Road
Hanwha General Insurance announced on October 22 that it will collaborate with Yonsei University to create an Ecological Cherry Blossom Road as part of efforts to preserve biodiversity amid the climate crisis.
On October 21, Hanwha General Insurance held the "Ecological Cherry Blossom Road Creation Ceremony with Hanwha General Insurance and Yonsei University" at Yonsei University International Campus.
This event is part of Hanwha General Insurance's environmental, social, and governance (ESG) management practices aimed at realizing the value of biodiversity conservation in the era of climate crisis. Through a meaningful donation from Hanwha General Insurance, the two institutions will create an Ecological Cherry Blossom Road at Yonsei University's Songdo International Campus and plan to continue their ongoing cooperation in the future.

View original imageDuring the Ecological Cherry Blossom Road creation event, employees from both organizations jointly planted 24 royal cherry trees, which are an endangered species, 9 magnolia trees, and 300 boxwood shrubs, which are native plants. This meaningful activity contributed to increasing the population of nationally protected species and sharing the value of ecological conservation.
Attendees at the event included Moon Il, outside director of Hanwha General Insurance; Kim Jeongyeon, outside director of Hanwha General Insurance; Yoo Kwangyeol, outside director of Hanwha General Insurance; Kim Seunggyun, head of the ESG Secretariat at Hanwha General Insurance; Lee Jongsoo, vice president of Yonsei University International Campus; Lee Dowon, dean of Underwood International College at Yonsei University; Kim Ikyeon, dean of the College of Pharmacy at Yonsei University; Lee Geunho, director of the General Administration Center at Yonsei University International Campus; as well as other employees from Hanwha General Insurance and Yonsei University. New employees of Hanwha General Insurance also participated, adding significance to the event.
A representative from Hanwha General Insurance stated, "This event goes beyond simple tree planting to serve as an example of ESG practices where a corporation and a university collaborate to care for the environment. Building on this event, we plan to continue cooperative projects to promote environmental protection and the spread of social value."

Meanwhile, Hanwha General Insurance continues its efforts to preserve biodiversity in collaboration with local universities. Last year, the company created an ecological zone by planting 350 endangered trees in partnership with Kangwon National University.
