Pyeongtaek Unification 30th Anniversary Festival to Be Held at Sosabeol Sports Town on October 25-26
Highlights Include the 'Citizen Parade' with 57 Participating Teams
The 'Pyeongtaek EVERYONE Festival' will be held for two days on October 25 and 26 at the Sosabeol Sports Town in Pyeongtaek, celebrating the 30th anniversary of the city's unification.
This festival is a participatory event where citizens and artists come together. It is an opportunity to reflect on the growth and history of unified Pyeongtaek over the past 30 years and to share aspirations for the next 100 years with the community.
The festivities will begin on October 24 with the lighting and relay of the festival torch. Starting on October 25, the main events will commence in earnest. The torch will travel through various regions of Pyeongtaek, symbolically conveying the meaning of unification, before being brought to the main venue at Sosabeol Sports Town for the festival’s opening.
The highlight of the festival is the 'Citizen Parade', which will take place on October 25 from 2:00 p.m. for two hours. The parade will run from Hapjeong Elementary School to Jungang 2-ro and is planned as a large-scale, integrated street performance featuring citizens, local artists, youth, a military band, and an honor guard all coming together.
The parade will include 40 local arts groups, 13 professional performance teams from outside the city, 3 invited military band and honor guard teams, and the Pyeongtaek Nongak troupe, totaling 57 participating teams.
The opening ceremony, scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on October 25, will feature performances by La Poem, Jung Taechun & Park Eunok, Pyeongtaek City Korean Traditional Orchestra, Seo Beomseok, Park Soyeon, and a drone light show.
The closing ceremony on October 26 will also include performances by Roy Kim, Park Sangmin, Choi Jungwon, Lee Geonmyeong, Kim Hyuncheol (with orchestra), and Lee Sunyoung (vocal).
During the festival, a variety of programs will be offered, including citizen participation experience booths, arts and culture exhibitions, and the citizen parade.
