Gwangmyeong Mayor Seungwon Park: "Sinansan Line Construction Must Be Transparent and Responsible"
Request Made During Meeting with Chiyoung Song, President of POSCO E&C
Seungwon Park, mayor of Gwangmyeong City in Gyeonggi Province, requested POSCO E&C, the contractor responsible for the collapse accident at the Sinansan Line construction site in April, to ensure transparent and responsible construction.

View original imageOn the 16th, during a meeting in his office with Chiyoung Song, president of POSCO E&C, Mayor Park stated, "This accident is not simply an issue of the construction process, but a serious matter that involves overall responsibility for safety management throughout the project."
During the meeting, Mayor Park called for the prompt completion of the passage box in the accident section and the ventilation shaft construction in front of the Gwangmyeong International Design Cluster (GIDC); swift compensation for damages to businesses and residents; and transparent disclosure of the construction progress.
President Song responded, "We will thoroughly investigate the cause, promptly implement measures to prevent recurrence, and establish a responsible safety management system to restore public trust."

The city announced its commitment to do its utmost to prevent a recurrence of such accidents and to normalize the project in cooperation with relevant agencies, including the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
