Pocheon City Selected as Final Winner in Next Year's Signboard Improvement Project Contest for Second Consecutive Year
Pocheon City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Baek Younghyeon) announced on October 16 that it has been selected as the final winner for the second consecutive year in the '2026 Signboard Improvement Project' contest, which was promoted to revitalize local commercial districts and enhance urban aesthetics, following its selection in 2025.
This project, titled 'LED Signboard Maintenance Project for Revitalizing Yeongbuk-myeon Commercial District,' will be carried out with a total budget of 378 million won, including 180 million won in national funding, and is scheduled to run until December 2026. The target area has been designated as the vicinity of the Multipurpose Cultural Plaza, the central axis of the Yeongbuk-myeon commercial district.
Pocheon City plans to remove the old and disorderly signboards and replace them with energy-efficient LED signboards designed to reflect the unique characteristics of the region. In addition to replacing the signboards, the city will also renovate building facades, aiming to transform the streets of Yeongbuk-myeon into a cleaner and more attractive environment.

Baek Younghyeon, Mayor of Pocheon City, stated, "Based on the valuable achievement of being selected for the contest two years in a row, we will inject new vitality into the Yeongbuk-myeon commercial district." He added, "We will do our utmost to create a beautiful and pleasant street environment for both local merchants and residents through the successful implementation of this project."
