The event, themed "10 Years of Preparation, 10 Years of Growth," will be attended by more than 150 distinguished guests from various sectors of the region. Attendees will include Chief Director Ko Gilseok, Gwangju Mayor Kang Gijung, Gwangsan District Mayor Park Byungkyu, Gwangju Metropolitan Council members Park Sugi and Lee Gwisoon, Chonnam National University Vice President Jeon Jeyeol, and Chonnam National University Medical Alumni Association President Jeong Seongheon, among others.
Gwangju Central Hospital, which began as Suwan Children's Hospital in October 2015, has continued to invest generously in essential medical fields despite financial challenges, establishing itself as a key pillar of regional healthcare. In March 2023, the hospital was upgraded to a general hospital, expanded its bed capacity to 299, and opened new facilities including an emergency room to further enhance its expertise.
In particular, the hospital operates a separate Moonlight Children's Hospital, which provides evening medical services, presenting new possibilities for the underdeveloped pediatric and adolescent healthcare sector in the region. As a result of these efforts, Gwangju Central Hospital has grown into a regional hub general hospital, serving more than 220,000 patients annually.
