Gijang County, Busan Recruits "Gijang County Artisans" to Lead Regional Industrial Development
Up to Two Traditional and Skilled Technicians Selected from 39 Fields
Final Results to Be Announced in December
Gijang County (Governor Jeong Jongbok) will select "Gijang County Artisans" in order to discover outstanding skilled professionals who possess the region’s traditions and expertise.
The "Gijang County Artisan" program was established to recognize county residents with exceptional skills as artisans, thereby boosting their pride and promoting the succession of local traditional culture and industrial development. After its inaugural launch last year, this marks the second year of the program.
This year, the county plans to select up to two individuals as "Gijang County Artisans" from among traditional and skilled technicians in 99 occupations across 39 fields, and will accept candidate applications from all residents until November 3.
Eligibility requirements specify that, as of the announcement date, applicants must reside in Gijang County and have worked for at least 15 years in the same field or occupation. However, those who have already been recognized as artisans by other local governments or as Master Craftsmen of Korea are excluded.
Applications can be submitted through recommendations from the heads of relevant departments at the Gijang County Office, town or township chiefs, heads of local companies, or industry association leaders. Applications are received by the Job Planning Team of the Job and Economy Division at the Gijang County Office. Detailed information can be found in the notices section on the Gijang County Office website.
Gijang County plans to announce the final selection results in December after document screening and on-site evaluations. Selected artisans will receive a "Gijang County Artisan Certificate" and a plaque of recognition, as well as a technology encouragement grant of 4 million won (2 million won per year) for two years.
