"Golden" is also a song sung by the main characters in the animation. Lee Jae, Audrey Nuna, and Ray Ami are all Korean American singers, and this was their first time performing "Golden" live on stage.
During an interview with host Jimmy Fallon, the three shared behind-the-scenes stories from the animation recording. Lee Jae, who is also credited as a co-composer of "Golden," said, "I received the song 'Golden' while I was in a taxi on my way to the dentist. Inspiration struck me right there, so I turned on my phone's voice memo and recorded the melody with my voice."
He also drew the audience's attention by revealing, "While recording in the studio, I even saw a tall male ghost." Lee Jae added, "Later, my mother told me there's a Korean superstition that if you see a ghost while recording a song, it will be a hit. I want to thank the ghost," he said, making everyone laugh.
Audrey Nuna mentioned "gimbap," a Korean food featured in K-Pop Demon Hunters that became a hot topic. She said, "When I was a child, I remember secretly taking out pieces of gimbap from my lunchbox because I was worried other kids would tease me about the smell. I think many Korean Americans, including myself, can relate to this experience."
