People Power Party Reaches Out to Seniors and Youth for Chuseok... Community Service and Market Visits
Instead of Seoul Station, Volunteering at a Senior Welfare Center with Songpyeon-Making
In the Afternoon, Reaching Out to Young Entrepreneurs at Gyeongdong Market
On October 2, ahead of the Chuseok holiday, the People Power Party focused on connecting with both senior citizens and the younger generation. Instead of the customary annual greetings to homebound travelers at Seoul Station, the party aimed to highlight its image as a "people-oriented party" by engaging in community service activities.
Jang Donghyuk, leader of the People Power Party, along with other party leaders, visited the Dongbaek Flower Senior Welfare Center in Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul, on the morning of October 2 to participate in a Songpyeon-making volunteer event. In celebration of Senior Citizens' Day, they met directly with elderly citizens to extend Chuseok greetings.

However, for this year's Chuseok, the party broke with tradition by visiting senior welfare centers and markets, aiming to increase direct contact with ordinary citizens. This move is interpreted as an effort to broaden its appeal through actions focused on people's livelihoods.
Jang Donghyuk stated, "Our ancestors shaped Songpyeon in a half-moon shape, wishing for the nation to prosper and flourish," and added, "As we make Songpyeon to serve our elders in celebration of Senior Citizens' Day, my heart feels warm."
He continued, "Although the national economy is currently facing difficulties, we will make Songpyeon with the hope that things will improve. I also promise to ensure that our elders have no place left in the shadows, and I will put that promise into each Songpyeon."
Song Eonseok, the party's floor leader, remarked at the event, "No matter how much the world changes, the spirit of Chuseok remains warm. We must join forces to create a world where everyone is included, where sharing is valued, and where mutual respect prevails."
