Daejeon City Strengthens Monitoring of Waterborne, Foodborne, and Respiratory Infectious Diseases
Emergency Quarantine Operations Activated During Chuseok Holiday
Daejeon City will operate an emergency quarantine work system during the Chuseok holiday period to respond quickly to outbreaks of waterborne, foodborne, and respiratory infectious diseases.
This emergency work will involve 84 people per day from the city and five autonomous districts, organized into six teams. The main tasks include: ▲ daily monitoring of group outbreaks of waterborne and foodborne infectious diseases and diarrhea patients; ▲ checking the status of respiratory infectious diseases such as COVID-19, pertussis, and scarlet fever; ▲ prompt reporting and response in case of any unusual occurrences; and ▲ maintaining emergency contact networks among health institutions and disseminating information as needed.
With the COVID-19 pandemic continuing nationwide, Daejeon City plans to maintain a rapid response system throughout the holiday period and, if necessary, immediately dispatch teams to the field to assess the situation.
The public health centers in each autonomous district will continuously monitor for any outbreaks in their areas and respond immediately on-site, while medical institutions will promptly report any cases of infectious diseases to enable early response through cooperation.
Tae Jun-eop, Director of Sports and Health at Daejeon City, stated, "Even during the Chuseok holiday, we will protect the safety of our citizens through thorough monitoring and an emergency response system," and urged, "Please practice everyday preventive measures such as handwashing, indoor ventilation, and proper cough etiquette to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and protect high-risk groups."
