Under the slogan "Special Sacrifice Deserves Special Compensation," the campaign aimed to bring public attention to the reality faced by residents who have endured decades of sacrifices for the preservation of the metropolitan water source, and to strongly call on the central government for rational institutional reform.
Held in conjunction with the 31st Citizens' Day ceremony, the signature campaign took place at the entrance of the indoor gymnasium. On the day of the event, a signature booth was set up, and organizers moved throughout the venue to encourage broad citizen participation. Notably, the joint efforts of the city and the city council further broadened public support and participation, making the event even more meaningful.
Mayor Joo Gwangdeok stated, "For decades, we have faithfully implemented the Total Water Pollution Load Management System to improve water quality. Now is the time for appropriate compensation and regulatory reform for the sacrifices made by our residents. Through this signature campaign, we will strongly convey the collective will of our citizens to the government."
