KOSPI Rallies Over 1% as Institutions and Foreign Investors Return, Recovers 3,430 Level
The KOSPI closed higher, buoyed by net buying from institutional and foreign investors.
On September 29, the KOSPI finished trading at 3,431.21, up 45.16 points (1.33%) from the previous day. Trading volume was provisionally tallied at 412.79 million shares, with a trading value of 9.9432 trillion won.
By investor type, institutions and foreign investors were net buyers, with 302.9 billion won and 446.9 billion won respectively. In contrast, individual investors were net sellers, offloading 747.6 billion won. In the futures market, institutions and individuals were net sellers of 620 billion won and 319.8 billion won, respectively, while foreign investors were net buyers of 1.0497 trillion won. Program trading saw net buying of 15.1 billion won in arbitrage transactions and 528.3 billion won in non-arbitrage transactions.
Most sectors posted gains. The IT services sector rose by 3.4%, securities by 3.12%, electrical and electronics by 1.75%, insurance by 1.73%, finance by 1.59%, electricity and gas by 1.54%, non-metallics by 1.29%, manufacturing by 1.28%, chemicals by 1.26%, metals by 0.78%, transportation equipment by 0.68%, transportation and warehousing by 0.64%, pharmaceuticals by 0.63%, and medical precision by 0.61%. In contrast, telecommunications and general services ended the session slightly lower.
Most of the top market cap stocks also advanced. Samsung Electronics gained 1.08%, SK Hynix 3.71%, LG Energy Solution 0.72%, Samsung Biologics 0.3%, Hanwha Aerospace 1.44%, KB Financial Group 2.66%, Hyundai Motor 0.23%, NAVER 7.02%, Celltrion 0.34%, Kia 0.5%, Shinhan Financial Group 2.46%, and Samsung Life Insurance 2.17%. Meanwhile, Doosan Enerbility fell by 0.32%.
On the day, 597 stocks advanced, 271 declined, and 62 remained unchanged. Eight stocks hit the daily upper limit.
The KOSDAQ index also closed up more than 1%. The KOSDAQ finished at 846.71, up 11.52 points (1.38%) from the previous day. By investor type, institutions and foreign investors were net buyers of 135.5 billion won and 80 billion won, respectively, while individuals were net sellers of 191.6 billion won.
Most of the top market cap stocks on the KOSDAQ also gained. Alteogen rose 4.25%, EcoPro BM 0.26%, Peptron 4.32%, EcoPro 0.62%, PharmaResearch 0.35%, LIG Chem Bio 0.07%, Samchundang Pharm 1.85%, HLB 0.13%, ABL Bio 1.19%, Lino Industrial 1.37%, and Kolon TissueGene 0.42%. Meanwhile, Rainbow Robotics ended the session slightly lower.
