Lost and Wandering, What Should You Do?... Goryeong County Conducts Dementia Missing Person Prevention Drill
Goryeong County (Governor Lee Namcheol) announced that it conducted the "2025 Dementia Missing Person Prevention and Wandering Response Drill" on September 26 at the gateball court in Hoaam 1-ri, Unsu-myeon, to prevent dementia patients from going missing and to ensure a swift and efficient response in such cases.
This drill simulated a real-life scenario of a dementia patient going missing, covering the entire process from receiving the missing person report, dispatching and searching the site, finding the wandering individual, notifying the police, and handing the person over to their guardian. In particular, the Goryeong Dementia Relief Center, Goryeong Police Station, Goryeong Fire Station, and residents of Hoaam 1-ri village participated together, providing an opportunity to strengthen initial response capabilities and the cooperation system.
Hoaam 1-ri in Unsu-myeon has been designated as a dementia-friendly village and has been working to create a dementia-friendly environment. Alongside this drill, related events such as dementia awareness education and promotional booths were held, increasing residents' interest and understanding.
Lee Namcheol, Governor of Goryeong County, said, "When a dementia patient goes missing, it causes great anxiety and distress for both the patient and their family," adding, "Through this drill, the local community and related organizations have come together to create an important opportunity to protect the safety of dementia patients. We will continue to do our best to build a safe and happy community free from concerns about dementia."
