Gyeongbuk Province to Promote Solar Power on Rooftops of 1,000 Rural Homes... 3kW Scale
On September 29, Gyeongbuk Province held a meeting titled "Sunlight Income Village Creation and Agro-Photovoltaic Project Promotion" at the main conference room of the Eastern Government Complex in Pohang, with relevant officials from the province and 22 cities and counties in attendance, to discuss the full-scale implementation of solar power generation projects.
The province organized this meeting to explore the direction of the "Sunlight Income Village Creation Project" and the "Carbon Emissions Rights Project Linked to Solar Power," both aimed at revitalizing the rural community economy and achieving carbon neutrality goals amid a rapidly changing energy environment.
The "Sunlight Income Village Creation" project will be promoted as an agro-photovoltaic project with profit-sharing based on participation by village communities and residents (as shareholders). Through a 1MW-class solar power generation project, the initiative aims to increase income within villages and boost the rural economy.
Additionally, the "Carbon Emissions Rights Project Linked to Solar Power" will be promoted as a project to install private solar power systems in units of up to 20 households per village in cities and counties. The plan is to install these systems on the rooftops of approximately 1,000 rural homes and link them to carbon emissions rights as a business model.
Gyeongbuk Province plans to actively incorporate the opinions gathered during the meeting, taking the lead in increasing income for local communities and reducing carbon emissions. At the same time, the province will continue to support the spread of renewable energy, such as the Sunlight Income Village Creation and agro-photovoltaic projects.

Du Moon-taek, head of the Future Energy and Hydrogen Division of Gyeongbuk Province, stated, "Through this meeting, we have reaffirmed our commitment to advancing solar power generation projects in North Gyeongsang Province and will accelerate the revitalization of renewable energy in the local community." He added, "Going forward, Gyeongbuk Province will continue to play a leading role in achieving energy independence and building a carbon-neutral society."
