Hwacheon County Spreads Warmth and Sharing Ahead of Chuseok Holiday
Hwacheon County Visits 797 Households Including Basic Assistance Recipients and Welfare Facilities
Support Extended to 454 National Merit Honorees and Children in Need of Meals
Hwacheon County in Gangwon Province is caring for neighbors in need to ensure a "Chuseok holiday where everyone is happy."
From September 15 to October 2, the county will provide support to a total of 797 households, including 580 households receiving basic living and medical assistance, as well as 217 residents living in 13 social welfare facilities.
For those receiving basic living and medical assistance, each household will receive a 10kg bag of white rice delivered by courier, while residents of social welfare facilities will each receive a 50kg bag of white rice delivered in person.
Additionally, 177 residents living in social welfare facilities will each receive 500g of beef.
Prior to this, the Gangwon Community Chest of Korea began distributing consolation money in succession from September 24 to 218 households with incomes at or below 100% of the regional median income, as recommended by Hwacheon County.
Hwacheon County will also care for national merit recipients who have sacrificed for national security, in addition to low-income and vulnerable households during the Chuseok holiday.
The recipients include 454 national merit honorees residing in five towns and townships, each of whom will receive a 10kg bag of newly harvested Chuseok rice delivered by October 1.
Hwacheon County will also provide meal support for vulnerable children before and after the Chuseok holiday period.
From October 3 to 9, the county will distribute meal vouchers and lunchbox delivery coupons to children who may experience meal gaps due to closures of local children's centers or the absence of guardians.
In addition, Hwacheon County has launched a special inspection to check for delayed payments of subcontractor wages at various workplaces, focusing administrative efforts to ensure everyone can enjoy a bountiful Chuseok.
The spirit of sharing is also spreading throughout the local community, with donations for neighbors in need and kimchi-making for vulnerable households becoming more widespread.
