Hamyang County Holds Rural Society Innovation Workshop for Residents' Self-Governing Councils
Seeking Practical Solutions for Local Issues
Hamyang County in South Gyeongsang Province announced on the 29th that it held the 'Rural Society Innovation Workshop' for about 30 members of the residents' self-governing councils from 11 towns and villages within the county.
This workshop was organized to strengthen the role of the residents' self-governing councils as key agents in rural communities facing challenges such as an aging population and population decline, and to seek practical solutions for addressing local issues.
The workshop featured lectures and discussions on a variety of topics, including understanding rural spatial planning, efficient utilization of shared facilities, and cases of artificial intelligence (AI) applications in rural areas. In particular, feasible ideas for resident-led regional revitalization strategies were shared, receiving enthusiastic responses from the participants.
Jin Byeongyeong, the governor of Hamyang County, attended the workshop and emphasized, "There are limits to what administrative efforts alone can achieve in overcoming the crises of aging and population decline," adding, "When the residents' self-governing councils strengthen their autonomy and work together to solve local problems, the sustainability of the region will be greatly enhanced."
He also urged, "I hope that what you have learned at today's workshop will lead to concrete actions in the field."
