KISA to Host "AI Hacking Defense Competition" ... "A Shift in Security Paradigm"
Top 20 Teams from the Preliminary Round Advance to the Finals in December
The Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) announced on the 28th that it has begun recruiting participants for the preliminary round of the "2025 Artificial Intelligence (AI) Hacking Defense Competition" in collaboration with the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Information Security Industry Association (KISIA).
The theme of this year's competition is "AI for Everyone, Security for Everyone," covering topics such as security using artificial intelligence, ensuring the safety of artificial intelligence, and security of artificial intelligence platforms.
The preliminary and final rounds will follow a "Capture the Flag" (CTF) format, where participants solve problems within a limited time in isolated cloud environments and earn points by discovering hidden "specific strings." The teams with the highest final scores will be awarded top placements.
The preliminary round will be held online over two days, October 31 and November 1. The top 20 teams (10 from the general division and 10 from the student division) will advance to the finals, which will take place at the COEX Grand Ballroom on December 1.
Outstanding teams in the finals will receive certificates and prizes, including awards from the Minister of Science and ICT, the President of KISA, the President of KISIA, and special awards.
Eligibility is open to South Korean nationals aged 19 or older. Anyone interested in AI and cybersecurity can participate as part of a team of four. Applications must be submitted by 6 PM on October 20.
Oh Jin-young, Director of the Information Security Industry Division at KISA, stated, "We are entering an 'AI-native society' where AI is embedded throughout society," and added, "We hope the AI Hacking Defense Competition will contribute to a new security paradigm shift and serve as a foundation for leading AI security."
