The session provided an in-depth understanding of overall railroad policy, including optimal railroad route planning that considers maximizing transport capacity, operational efficiency, and positive social effects such as congestion mitigation and improved sustainability. It also covered the different types of railroad routes-radial, urban-through, and circular lines-and optimal transfer planning for passenger convenience.
In particular, following the forum, a field-oriented program was organized to allow participants to directly observe and experience railroad operations and response systems. The Gyeonggi Province Opportunity Press Corps visited the Gwanggyo Vehicle Depot on the Shinbundang Line to examine the vehicle maintenance system, including regular and major maintenance, as well as inspection cycles and methods for safe railroad vehicle operation. Additionally, at Gwanggyo Jungang Station, they participated in an emergency evacuation drill, simulating a crisis situation on a train and practicing emergency exit procedures under the guidance of station staff.
Finally, the participants visited the control center, the core institution responsible for real-time train operation control and management, where they received explanations on the overall railroad control system, including train operation management, signaling and control systems, platform safety management, and emergency response measures.
The Opportunity Press Corps, which included journalists of various ages, joined the event to gain a better understanding of provincial administration. By observing the entire railroad policy process at a glance and experiencing the railroad operation system firsthand on behalf of Gyeonggi Province residents, the press corps gained greater understanding and interest in railroad projects.
